Autos for Auction Inc. was created so that a larger percentage of the proceeds from a sale of donated vechicles would go back to the deserving charities, as the donor intended. Working with Contra Costa County Public Auto Auction and the local wholesale-dealer-only auctions, Autos for Auction Inc. uses its knowledge of the market conditions to get the maximum price for vehicles donated to a charity.
Our program is similar to many other donations companies. However our goal is to accept only vehicles that have a reasonable market value $500 or more, to allow us to actually return to the charity a substantial check. If a car is old and not running, often it would cost more than the vechicle is worth to pick it up and dispose of it. In these cases we would suggest the owner themselves simply call a salvage yard.
By accepting only vehicles with some reasonable market value we can keep the expenses lower for the charities, since there will be no loss-producing donations which increase overhead.
We will make it very easy for people to donate a vehicle. At the time of pickup (using a local tow company) we will provide a Kelly Blue Book wholesale report, to assist the donor in making a fair market value assessment of their vehicle.
